Veneer Rotary Cutting Process in Plywood Manufacturing

Veneer rotary cutting is one of the core processes in plywood manufacturing. Its purpose is to continuously peel logs into veneers with specified thickness and width using a rotary lathe. The quality of rotary cutting directly affects plywood strength, flatness, bonding performance, and surface quality.

Complete Veneer Rotary Cutting Process:

Log Receiving → Log Sorting → Log cutting → Hydrothermal Treatment  → Debarking→  Rotary Peeling → Clipping & Sizing → stacking→ Drying → Grading & Repair →  Storage

Detailed Description of Each Process:

1,Log Receiving and Sorting

After arriving at the factory, logs are sorted according to species, diameter, length, curvature, and defects.

2,Log Bucking and Cutting to Length

Logs are cut into required lengths according to rotary lathe specifications.

3,Hydrothermal Treatment

Logs are steamed or soaked in hot water to improve wood plasticity and reduce peeling resistance.

4,Log Debarking

Bark must be removed before peeling to prevent sand and impurities from damaging knives.

5,Veneer Rotary Peeling

The rotary lathe continuously peels the rotating log into a continuous veneer sheet.

The log rotates around its axis while the knife advances radially, cutting the wood into continuous thin sheets.

6,Veneer Clipping and Sizing

Continuous veneer sheets are clipped into standard panel sizes.

7,stacking

the peeled veneer can be stacked automatically .if wants to reducing the investment cost, the stacking machine is also not  needed.

8,Veneer Drying

Wet veneers are dried to the required moisture content.

9,Veneer Grading and Repair

After drying, veneers are graded according to quality standards.

10, Stacking and Storage

Graded veneers are stacked and stored according to specifications.
